Pregnancy and diabetes

What we do?

Session 1

(60 - 90 minutes)

Your diet history, food preferences and social circumstances will all be assessed to allow us to understand your dietary habits and patterns.

We will also thoroughly investigate your blood glucose diary and locate any areas that need specific support.

We will have time for a question-and-answer section, where you may have burning questions you want to ask about food but haven’t been able to find out the answer yourself.

We will conclude with an action plan. This will be a small list of things we agree to together that you can work on before our next meeting. An action plan may include specific food suggestions at breakfast, types of carbohydrate to opt for (looking at lower glycaemic index foods), recommended carbohydrate portion sizes and which snacks to go for in between meals when hunger is creeping in.

Session 2 and 3

(30 - 60 minutes)

Review and discuss changes made. Looking at what has been working and what has not food wise.

Reviewing your blood glucose diary in relation to food intake, looking for patterns and targeting areas that may need attention.

Looking at lifestyle factors which may support more balanced blood glucose levels, such as stress, sleep, exercise etc.

We may also discuss factors such as how satisfied you feel after meals/snacks, which foods are most reliable and what should I really be avoiding as much as possible to prevent blood glucose spikes.

Its recommended you book a three-part package to allow Carolyn to fully support you in targeting your blood glucose levels.

Email contact will be available in between consultations to address any questions or queries. A written action plan will be provided after each consultation.

We recommend all three appointments are completed within 4 weeks of the first session.
